Eight activists were arrested by elements of the intelligence groups belonging to MIG, ISAFP, and 2CSU in Makati on July 31, 1977. Ardiana Villaber was one of them.

The families of the missing began searching for their missing loved ones in the first week of August 1977. They visited detention centers in Manila and in Camp Olivas in Pampanga but yielded negative results.

In the first week of October 1977, news reached the families of the victims about three women killed in Mauban, Quezon.

The family went to Mauban to check the reports. They were able to talk to the Barangay Chairman, who said that about the end of September 1977, they heard bursts of gunfire in the area but found no fatalities.
