Alexander Somera, a community and trade union organizer, was abducted on December 21, 1995, on the busy street of Sangandaan, Quezon City, by the combined elements of the Intelligence Unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and the Intelligence Command of the Philippine National Police (ICPNP).
He was allegedly a member of the urban armed group the Alex Boncayao Brigade, a breakaway group from the Communist Party of the Philippines led by Jose Ma. Sison. He was tagged in the murder of the Chinese businessman Leonardo Ty (owner of the Manila Paper Mills).
Alexander Somera was also living near the place where he was abducted. He leaves at the Manotoc Compound, Barangay Santa Quiteria, Baesa, Quezon City, two kilometers away from the incident.
