On January 31, 1983, at 4:00 in the morning. Five armed men alighted from an owner-type jeep in front of an apartment in Brgy. San Isidro, San Fernando, Pampanga, to arrest Antonio Sambajon and 2 other men. According to an eyewitness, one of the armed men was a policeman who immediately arrested the victims without a warrant, and they were brought to the 172nd PC Coy HQ.  The three victims were active members of the Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Cosmos-KMU. Relatives and friends suspect that the active involvement of the three in union activities and the successful workers' strike at the company were the motive behind the warrantless arrest and disappearance of the victims.
