Buenaventura Carreon is married with one child and is an account bookkeeper of Solid Bank-Tabora Branch in Divisoria, Manila. He was also the president of the Solid Bank employees' union with 1,400 members.

On September 22, 1988, at about 8:13 in the morning, he left their house to go to work; he usually rides the Marikina Bus from Quiricada to Divisoria. His officemate called up his wife Sylvia to tell her that Buenaventura did not report for work that day.

Sylvia made a search for Buenaventura; she went from camp to camp and even wrote the secretary of national defense for help.  He remains missing.
