Cubao

Emmanuel "Manny" Yap was last seen by his parents on February 14, 1971.     After lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Cubao, the family proceeded home in order to pick up the roses Manny would deliver to his friends who had ordered them. As they neared the house, Manny asked to be dropped off on the side walk along EDSA near Channel 7. Suspecting that the family home was under surveillance, he thought it was prudent not to go home with his family. Ten minutes after they left Manny, the parents returned to pick him up, but he was nowhere to be seen. After waiting for half an hour, they decided to go ahead and deliver the roses themselves.

It was Manny's custom to stay with his friends, and therefore his parents didn't find anything amiss about his absence. It was not till a couple of days later that they came to know that something was wrong. A strange woman had telephoned that Manny had been picked up by the military and was in Camp Crame. This started the long, heartbreaking, and fruitless search for Manny.

At the time of his disappearance, he was pursuing a master's program in economics at the UP School of Economics. As a student, Manny was active in extracurricular activities. He was at one time the secretary general of Lakas Diwa and the president of the debating society.

Up to this writing, the whereabouts of Emmanuel Yap are still unknown.
