Jaime Topacio, a resident of the Miramonte Park subdivision, had ten children; four of them were directly involved in the underground movement during the Marcos and Aquino regimes. Jaime disappeared on March 28, 1996.
According to Estelita Topacio, wife of the victim, on March 28, 1996, her husband went to one of his children living in Malaria, Caloocan City. The victim always goes there to have breakfast; he left immediately after eating.
However, Jaime did not return home. The following day, March 29, 1996, Estelita and her children reported the case to the Barangay Police.
They also reported it to the eye-to-eye operation, and other steps were taken to locate the victim but yielded negative results.
The family believed that the disappearance of the victim was in connection with the involvement of his children in the underground movement.
