A former political detainee who was implicated in the assassination of WPD Superintendent Maj. Tomas Karingal was abducted by unidentified individuals on March 16, 1988, in Quezon City.

Jaime Velasco, who was acquitted last April 1985 of robbery and murder, was abducted at around 3:00 am while he was sleeping inside the passenger jeepney parked in front of his house, no. 241 JP Rizal Proj. 4, Quezon City.

According to a witness, several armed men arrived, and the two of them were wearing ski masks, approached him while sleeping with Velasco inside the jeep, and asked who his companion was.

He also adds that one of them was about to whip him with an armalite when another interviewer said, "Huwag nating galawin yan, hindi iyan ang kailangan natin" (Forget him, we need this other man).  When they recognized Velasco, they immediately handcuffed and dragged him into a waiting car.

It would be recalled that a few weeks after his release and that of his co-accused, Danilo Tualla, sometime in April 1985, four unknown men visited his house (June 30).

One piece of information as regards the abduction of Velasco would say that two weeks before his disappearance, he had an argument with two soldiers apparently drunk from Camp Aguinaldo, QC, inside COBE Restaurant, along 15th Ave., Murphy, QC, resulting in a fistfight.

During the time of Marcos, he was accused of being a member of the Gerilya Anak Pawis (GAK), an alleged army of the leftist social democrats.
