Melania "Cristina" Catalla, 27 years old, single, an economics undergraduate student of U.P. (University of the Philippines) Los Banos, a member of SAMAHAN NG DEMOKRATIKONG KABATAAN (SDK), was last seen in the vicinity of Ayala Ave. near Makati Medical Center, Makati City, last July 30, 1977. She was reportedly seen with plainclothes operatives of the military intelligence. Christina was supposedly brought there as bait for the arrest of her comrades. From then on, the whereabouts of Christina, together with six others, were unknown.  According to her sister Yolanda Farma Catalla, their mother, Mrs. Iluminada F. Catalla, sent a letter to Amnesty International (British Section) soliciting help to locate her daughter Christina, who was arrested sometime between July 27 and August 1, 1977, by military intelligence in Metro Manila.

Christina's last meeting with her sister Yolanda was on July 27, 1977, in Yolanda's house in Makati City. Yolly recalled that her last conversation with Christina was before lunchtime on July 27, 1977. Christina called her in her office to inform her that she was leaving the house to meet some comrades.

As of this date (8.24.2013), the relatives of Melania "Christina" Catalla are still searching and hoping to know what happened to her and find her body or her burial site.
