Romeo Legaspi, a publisher and columnist, was reportedly missing since January 11, 1993. According to the daughter of the victim, their father was last seen leaving his residence at No. 34 Gordon St., Barangay New Baicain, Olongapo City, in the afternoon of January 11, 1993, with a certain Jhun Zamuco. Since then, Romeo Legaspi has remained missing. Before a week of disappearance, there was a news report in Olangapo Times, a local newpaper (dated January 23-29, 1993). The unidentified charred remains were recovered by the police force of Castillejos, Zambales. The police investigation revealed that the victim was summarily executed (salvaged) and burned unrecognizable using big tires from a truck. The family and friends of Legaspi have asked the NBI to exhume the badly burned cadaver for possible identification.
